The first public innovation authority in the country.

Miami-Dade Innovation Authority launched in 2023 with a $9 million equal match of private, public, and philanthropic funding commitment from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Ken Griffin (Griffin Catalyst), and Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade Innovation Authority proudly partners with Miami-Dade County to support  finding, testing, and fast-tracking emerging tech solutions to the county's biggest operational challenges — saving time, reducing costs, lightening the administrative burden on public sector leaders, and ensuring the best use of valuable government resources.

To date, Miami-Dade Innovation Authority has spearheaded more than 8 Public Innovation Challenges in partnership with county departments and economic engines, including Miami International Airport, PortMiami, to address solid waste diversion, increasing affordable housing access, optimizing events related traffic and mobility, and emergency management solutions as well as water and sewer infrastructure management

“This approach will fast-forward local solutions - while giving entrepreneurs a path to test and scale, making it faster and easier to innovate in Miami-Dade.”

— Comissioner Oliver G. Gilbert, III, Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners
